Do you think the widespread media acceptance of ity is confusing kids today?

I don't mean this as a judgemental statement, at all. With so much uality in the media today presented as "cool", do you think a lot of young kids are "coming out" just to get attention or fit in? For myself, I just don't think a kid can make that kind of lifestyle decision, when he/she's still figuring out who he/she is. What do you think?
